FRC News: Meet the Robinsons April 29, 2008
The U.S. bishop at the center of the growing Anglican storm has announced his intent to "marry" the gay partner that prompted the Episcopal schism.
Gene Robinson, an open homosexual whose consecration led to the departure of over 2,000 U.S. congregations, says his civil union ceremony will be held in New Hampshire this June. "I'm a religious person," he told the New York Times, "and every major event in my life has been marked with some kind of liturgy and giving thanks to God."
Although Robinson has been excluded from the annual Lambeth Conference this summer by order of Archbishop Rowan Williams, he plans to mingle outside the event and "make his case about how gay relationships are compatible with Christianity."
Thus far, Robinson's decision to flaunt his homosexuality has failed to convince the vast majority of Episcopalians, a growing number of whom are deciding that the denomination's rebellion is incompatible with the ancient faith and have voted to sever ties despite the personal and legal costs. Membership is declining by the tens of thousands, but the Episcopal Church is still choosing political correctness over biblical Truth.
